Could it Really Be Grief?
Have you experienced any of the following?

Divorce
End of a romantic relationship
Loss of a beloved pet
Empty Nest
Becoming a caregiver for a family member
Difficult familial relationships
Loss of Hopes, Dreams, and Expectations
Do you find yourself…
Having a hard time concentrating
Suffering from a lack of energy
Experiencing persistent anger
Isolating from friends and family
Feeling depressed
This is most likely grief and the Grief Recovery Method (GRM) can help!
All of us have experienced grief throughout our lives. But most of us are not prepared to handle, manage, or recover from the emotional impacts which result from these changes and losses. We learn ineffective tools for dealing with grief from our parents, key family members, teachers, clergy, counselors, and even social media. It’s like trying to paint a room with a hammer, saw, and screwdriver! The Grief Recovery Method teaches us the proper tools to effectively recover from loss.
How does the Grief Recovery Method help achieve Recovery?
The GRM is just that – a method - a step by step process- an “action program” for unlocking and respecting the emotional experience of our grief – both immediate grief issues and those that may have been holding us captive for years. It introduces new tools which can be used across a wide gamut of losses. At every step the griever is respected and heard without judgement, or analysis, and is supported in identifying and giving voice to the array of emotions that accompany the full extent of the loss.
Dealing with grief with the wrong tools is like trying to paint a room with a hammer, saw, and screwdriver!
Grief is universal.
How is the GRM process different from other grief support programs?
-
Action-based
Recovery from loss is achieved by a series of small and correct choices made by the griever. To this end, The Grief Recovery Method involves reading and writing assignments as outlined in “The Grief Recovery Handbook”.
-
Shared for over 40 years
The GRM has been shared for over 40 years with the book having been translated into over 20 languages
-
Time-limited
The Grief Recovery Method is comprised of a set number of sessions. Group formats can be either 8 weeks or 12 weeks long while one-on-one formats are 7 weeks in length.
-
Facilitated by a Grief Recovery Specialist
Certified by the Grief Recovery Institute. These Specialists are trained to deliver the GRM and have a deep desire to help grieving people.
-
Evidence-based
The GRM is an Evidence Based program, having documented statistically significant improvements in griever’s knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to grief.
-
Group or One-on-One Formats
The Grief Recovery Method is offered in both Group and One-on-One formats. The Groups format is not a “drop in” group, meaning that those who participate are there throughout the entire program. Closed groups help build a sense of safety and trust.

Our online support groups offer a safe, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action, no matter the type of loss experienced. These groups are led by a Grief Recovery Specialist trained and certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.
-
One On One
This online program is for those who prefer to work face to face with a trained and certified Grief Recovery Specialist one-on-one, rather than in a group setting. This 7-week meeting format utilizes the same proven materials as the group programs but in a more private setting.
